Urduja Film Festival unveils first ‘Urduja Heritage Film Award’

Winners of this year's Urduja Film Festival announcedThe Urduja Film Festival honors films that promotes and preserves the country’s cultural and heritage values come to a conclusion as they officially unveil the winners of the 1st Urduja Heritage Film Awards.

With all the outstanding movies nominated, a group of professionals gathered to screen all of the entries competing for each category. Some of the esteemed jurors were Bb. Joyce Bernal (Gawad Urian and MMFF Best Director), Nady Mangaliag (Film Critic), Jun Velasco (FAMAS Board of Director), and Dr. Aveleo Fuentes (Playwright and Chairman Urduja Film Festival)—to name only a few.

Best Heritage Films of 2014

WINNER: Norte: Hangganan ng Kasaysayan

WINNER: Alienasyon

WINNER: Barber’s Tales

Best Director

The “UFF Espada ni Urduja – Tanglaw ng Sining ng Pelikulang Pilipino Lifetime Achievement Award” is awarded to a legendary film artist who made significant contributions to the Philippine Film Industry. The sword made of brass and stainless steel crafted in Pangasinan is awarded to Nora Aunor.  The “Punyal ni Urduja – Champion of Pangasinan Heritage Cinema” is awarded to Christopher Gozum.

This film festival is an annual affair for students in the Open Film Competition in Region 1 held in Robinson’s Movieworld Pangasinan and Ilocos.
