There is just about countless things to happen upon the emergence a brand-new Thor — “This is not She-Thor,” notes writer Jason Aaron. “This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is Thor. This is the Thor of the Marvel Universe. But it’s unlike any Thor we’ve ever seen before” — and of the lengthy list it seems safe to expect among other scenarios a story that is by least subversive in the sense of reciprocated sexes.

Incidentally, we might just have the first straight-up Marvel female hero in our hands that, for starters, does not borrow the name of her male counterpart. She does not need to.

The Thunder Goddess, as teased in the following first-look pages of Aaron’s upcoming Avengers NOW! initiative comic Thor, is apparently the real deal.

The all-new Thor is written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Russell Dauterman.
