Cinephiles, I come bearing good news. Fresh from its Cinemalaya win, Eduardo Roy Jr.’s award-winning drama Pamilya Ordinaryo is going to have a run at commercial theaters later this month.
The film, which follows Ronwaldo Martin and Hasmine Killip as teenage vagabonds whose infant child gets kidnapped, is easily one of the best Filipino films released this year. In his review, fellow F.P.R. staffer Kayo Jolongbayan writes: “[Eduardo Roy Jr.] succeeds in providing us a gritty and realistic look on sights which we almost actively choose to ignore every time we see them. We have become desensitized to them.”
