Venice Int’l Film Festival 2015 lineup announced

The 72nd Venice International Film Festival, which will run from September 2 to 12, 2015 just revealed a hot steaming full list of the Competition and Out of Competition films which did not pose a huge surprise at all since TIFF already gave a hint a day before when it announced the partial and yet most important selections of films.

Baltasar Kormakur’s ‘Everest’ opens the festival on September 2, while a lot of high profile titles such as Tom Hooper’s ‘The Danish Girl’, Charlie Kaufman’s ‘Anomalisa’, Cary Fukunaga’s ‘Beasts Of No Nation’ and Aleksandr Sokurov’s  ‘Francofonia’ will be in competition and will all have their world premieres at Venice. Out of competition films also gain huge attraction from fans and media as it features anticipated films of the awards season like Scott Cooper’s ‘Black Mass’, Thomas McCarthy’s ‘Spotlight’ and Tsai Ming-liang’s ‘Afternoon’.

Venice International Film Festival is known to be an accurate precursor of the Oscar season with previous world premieres of Gravity’,  Birdman’,  Philomena’ and The Master’. While Toronto probably has more media buzz and stars, Venice selections seem to be more globally focused in terms of the number of foreign language films in the Competition and Out of Competition line-up.
